Adam has immersed himself in the arts for as long as he can remember. Beginning his journey as an actor and musician, he has a keen understanding of the needs of performers. In 2015, he found an interest in the technical aspect of performance, after attending training course Staged for Life and taking on a work placement at Edinburgh’s Fringe Festival. Since then, he has taken on a range of positions, running sound, lighting and AV at theatrical shows, comedy nights, live music events, awards evenings, charity fundraisers and weddings. He has also returned to Staged for Life as a tutor, helping to share his knowledge with the next generation of technicians.

In addition to the skills needed for a traditional performance, Adam has experience planning, delivering and operating online shows and events, ranging from Zoom socials to full live-streamed theatrical productions. In particular, he has helped companies update their practices for an online world, whether that be leading leading long-distance rehearsals and production meetings, or optimising the audio for online choirs. Having taken on positions such as Digital Production Manager with Scottish Youth Theatre, he is aware of both the challenges and opportunities presented with digital work, and can deliver stunning online or hybrid events.

Having been given opportunities as a young performer and technician, Adam has a passion for helping young artists and technicians find their feet in the world of theatre. In addition to his work with Staged for Life, he has volunteered with youth organisations such as Tinderbox Collective, LGBT Youth and Annexe Arts, led workshops at schools and youth centres, and offered shadowing opportunities. By giving young people the skills and the space to flourish, he hopes to inspire the next generation to find new, ambitious ways to tell their stories.
